Summary of Position: | Teach AAS degree level coursework in the College of Engineering Technology. Depending on qualifications, subjects taught could include manual drivelines, brakes, electrical, engines, steering and suspension, electronic fuel management, chassis electrical, automatic transmissions, heating ventilation and air conditioning, service area or automotive machining.
A focus on student success is expected. Office hours are required with at least one hour for each class taught. Use of current technology is expected.
This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face to face and/or online instruction. However, the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2023 at the earliest, and January 2024 at the latest. | |

Required Education: | Qualification by Credential: The standard to teach college credit courses at the associate degree level (1xx, 2xx) shall be the bachelor's (or higher) degree in field, or closely related area. Qualification by Tested Experience: a bachelor's degree or higher out of field and an associate's degree in field and five (5) years of relevant industry experience; or a bachelor's degree out of field and seven (7) years of relevant industry experience; or an associate's degree in field and seven (7) years of relevant industry experience. The industry experience shall illustrate professional expertise at a level to be foundational to the development of professional judgement that safeguards public property and life safety. ASE Master Technician may substitute for two (2) years of industry experience. | |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Previous Career and Technical Education teaching experience. Previous college teaching experience. | |
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Teach Auto Service courses. Responsible for teaching Auto Service course objectives according to established guidelines. Ability to use Microsoft Office, Mitchel on Demand and All Data. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an online environment. | |
