Imaging Center Director
Position Summary
Michigan State University Department of Radiology invites visionary and accomplished leaders to apply for the role of Inaugural Director for our newly established Center for Imaging and Image-Guided Therapies (CIIGT). The successful applicant will be appointed full-time as a tenure track Associate or Full Professor in an appropriate academic department(s). This University-wide facility, strategically housed within the Department of Radiology, is dedicated to pioneering advancements in translational imaging, with a unique focus on large animal models and human clinical imaging trials.
Role and Responsibilities:
As the Director of CIIGT, you will have the rare opportunity to shape and lead a cutting-edge research hub that is poised to make significant contributions to the field of imaging sciences. Your leadership will be pivotal in:
- Establishing and Communicating a Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a forward-thinking strategy that aligns with the University’s goals and positions CIIGT as a global leader in imaging and image-guided therapies.
- Driving Innovative Research: Oversee and promote groundbreaking research initiatives that push the boundaries of translational imaging, particularly in large animal models and clinical trials.
- Building Collaborative Networks: Forge strong, interdisciplinary partnerships across the University and with external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment that accelerates innovation and clinical translation.
- Mentoring the Next Generation of Scientists: Inspire and mentor faculty, researchers, and students, cultivating a culture of excellence and intellectual curiosity within the center.
- Enhancing the Facility’s Capabilities: Lead the development and enhancement of the center’s infrastructure, ensuring it is equipped with the latest technologies and methodologies to support cutting-edge research.
- Sustainable Fiscal Management of the Center: Establish and propagate procedures and practices that support sustained viability and growth of the CIIGT.

Required Degree
Doctorate
Minimum Requirements
- Terminal Degree: MD, DO, DVM, PhD, or equivalent.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in leading and managing large clinical and/or translational research labs, research programs or enterprises.
- Scholarship Excellence: Proven track record of scholarly achievements, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, industry reports, and/or grant awards from federal and other funding agencies.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, staff, and external partners.
- Commitment to Inclusivity: A demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and equity within research environments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling vision and engage audiences at all levels.
Desired Qualifications
- Substantial clinical, research, or industrial leadership with a focus on large animal models, image-guided therapies, and/or clinical trials.
- Experience with radioisotopes for imaging and/or therapy.

Summary of Health Risks
TB risk or work within 3 feet of human patients in a health care setting or have potential exposure to animals or to specimens with Mycobacterium. Work with animals or unfixed animal tissue. Exposure to ionizing radiation and exposure to radiopharmaceuticals.
