Position Summary: Dow Corning seeks a Global Regulatory Affairs Leader to be Dow Corning’s technical expert and liaison for external governmental and industry consortiums and agencies around the world. The Regulatory Affairs Leader at Dow Corning will work in conjunction with our Chief Scientist to establish short and long term strategic aspects of our silicone products sustainability. In addition, this role will be Dow Corning’s subject matter expert on the fate/toxicology of silicone materials and will advocate and educate for the advancement of Dow Corning silicones around the world.
Key Responsibilities: Dow Corning’s Global Regulatory Affairs Leader will develop a deep understanding of how regulatory standards affect silicone materials and the industries of interest to Dow Corning. The Global Regulatory Affairs Leader will monitor and prepare Dow Corning for emerging regulatory trends in relevant industries. This role will leverage an established network of key government regulatory agencies, standards setting and industry consortium groups to proactively monitor opportunities and threats arising from new regulations and policies.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities: • Monitor, educate and prepare Dow Corning for emerging regulatory trends and develop solutions and action plans to address them • Will represent Dow Corning as our silicone subject matter expert on industry boards and panels • Educate Dow Corning leadership on current and future regulations that may impact our business • Lead chemistry-based industry organizations for the advancement of silicones • Lead through advocacy with key policy, legislative and regulatory setting bodies • Perform Risk Assessment and understand and develop mitigation strategies that impact silicone materials. • Educate on the fate/effect of silicone materials
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • A minimum of a PhD in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology, Regulatory Affairs or related field is preferred however a Master’s Degree with relevant experience may be considered. • A minimum of 10+ years of experience working with chemical materials and the toxicology or impact/fate of chemical materials is preferred. • The selected candidate must have experience and knowledge working with global chemical regulations in the US, Canada, Europe or other relevant countries. • It is preferred that the selected candidate has deep understanding/relationships within the chemical industry, industry consortiums or other regulatory or governing bodies. • The selected candidate must have the ability and desire to advocate and influence for silicone materials. • It is preferred that the selected candidate has a deep understanding of silicone chemistry and the industry as well as the impact of silicones on the environment in different parts of the world however the educational credentials and a fundamental understanding and deep desire to develop this expertise in silicone chemistry and the environment is required. • The selected candidate must have outstanding communication skills including persuasive communicator and ability to educate and train on technical subject matter • Ability to travel globally and work in Midland, MI.
