Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for preparing Cooper Standard (CS) consolidated financial statements. CS has over $3 billion in revenue and operates in 20 countries. This position will also be responsible for compiling and preparing required SEC filings in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and SEC regulations. In addition, this position will research and provide guidance on a global basis related to the impact of new accounting pronouncements. Position may be called upon to assist with internal management reporting and / or other financial analysis. The position will report to and support the Manager, Financial Reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist the SEC Financial Reporting Manager with accounting and financial reporting assignments to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC regulations.
Support the company's external financial reporting process by preparing financial statements, accompanying footnotes and investor relations materials as part of our quarterly & annual SEC filings including Form 10-Qs, Form 10-Ks, and earnings releases.
Collaborate with business locations & other accounting and finance personnel to obtain information pertaining to external financial reporting filings.
Key contributor in the stock compensation & pension accounting processes and preparation of journal entries.
Prepare financial reporting related month-end close journal entries and reconciliations.
Research and interpret accounting and financial disclosure regulations to determine appropriate financial disclosures.
Prepare accounting memos related to quarterly assessments & new accounting standards as needed.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors on audit requests and SOX controls testing.
Improve financial reporting controls & procedures and implement best practices for financial reporting processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting and/or Finance.
Active CPA License.
1-3 years of SEC reporting experience, including preparation of Form 10-Qs and Form 10-Ks.
Experience with Workiva Wdesk preferred.
