1855 Starbucks Store Assistant
Position Summary
Assist and oversee student and support employees in the execution of various Barista roles in accordance with Starbucks standards and policies. This includes but is not limited to; training to be Barista certified with additional ongoing Starbucks certifications, learning and crafting 100+ food and beverage codes and recipes, maintaining brand specific equipment, retail and food store ordering through various vendors, and upkeep of frozen and dry inventory and stock.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Create unique hand-crafted beverages and food back-to-back through a fast-paced customer service connection
- Assist in the training, onboarding and certification process of new baristas
- Lead and deploy fellow baristas according to Starbucks Training Guidelines
- Operate and maintain a cash register, including cash, credit, Combo Exchange, and Starbucks gift cards
- Assist with daily inventory and ordering with various vendors and products to ensure the stores are meeting business demands.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques is necessary.
- One-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
- Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
- Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.
- Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.

Cash register experience including cash and credit transactions.
Minimum 2 years in a similar setting as a barista or working in a coffee shop (knowledge and understanding of bar and coffee equipment for troubleshooting and equipment maintenance needs)

Work Hours
Monday through Wednesday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday off, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
