DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ford has identified a need to increase its core competency in the area Systems Engineering with an emphasis on Automated Driving. This need is driven by Ford's desire to be a leader in advanced customer technologies and propulsion systems. A key area of core competency for these new technologies is the vehicle system controller, which is responsible for ensuring that the individual components work together as a cohesive whole. Only by ensuring that these new technologies are sized, designed for and operated in a way that is optimized within the vehicle system to meet the customer needs, will Ford deliver the highest quality and exciting products.
Position Duties
* Leverage a model based approach to architecting, defining, and analyzing complex systems involving a mix of hardware and controls for new automated vehicle control technologies
* Develop core SE work products for systems development including: architecture analysis, use cases, strategy, descriptive and analytical models, requirements, interface matrices, and robustness & verification work products
* Develop analysis-backed behavioral requirements on subsystems, including interface definition and cascade of requirements to delivering systems (e.g. engine, transmission, brakes, battery, Infotainment, body modules, off-board systems, etc.)
* Develop physically and empirically based models & simulations and use them to conduct design options and trade-studies to verify that proposed concepts and strategies meet the requirements
* Support the quality and functional safety processes (FTA, FMEAs, p-diagrams, change control, HARA, etc.)
* Perform design verification tests on prototype vehicles or constituent systems, analyze results, provide recommendations and drive to implementation.
* Develop new or improve upon, model based system engineering related processes to further our engineering efficiencies
* Perform competitive analyses and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in automated driving technologies in the automotive domain
