The Supplier Technical Specialist - Metrology position is a unique technical role within the Supply Chain organization.The primary responsibility of this role is to support work transfer execution by being a technical focal for all inspection related strategies/questions, acting as a liaison between multiple parties when inspection issues arise, and creating and implementing a configuration control system for CMM programs.This role will work closely with the Quality and Engineering team members to provide further guidance and alignment on inspection strategies, methods, and techniques from what is learned and applied on work transfer component validations.
*Establishing component control plans with supplier development engineers.
*Coordinate closely with manufacturing, supplier development engineers, design engineers, inspectors, and suppliers regarding inspection strategy, GD&T, and control plans.
*Assist with recovery efforts on key supplier delivery issues, establishing governance and reporting, conducting deep dives into constraints, and guiding suppliers with corrective actions.
*Potential exists for up to 50% domestic travel.
*Manage source inspection resources at suppliers, when necessary, to drive work transfer velocity.
*Quickly learn supplier procedures and implement solutions by utilizing soft skills/relationship building.
*Participate in supplier site audits and/or coordinate supplier audits with a cross functional team to determine appropriateness and quality of supplier's product.
*Initiate new vendor quality management, including evaluating process capability, tracking delivery, output, and reporting of supplier performance.
*Create and manage implementation of strategic projects including project plans, overall tracking capability, reporting of progress within team and up through leadership.
*Interface with all levels of the organization, suppliers, and customers for work transfers on the overall supplier performance, improvement actions, and processes. Be prepared to report out at executive levels on plans and results.
*Work collaboratively across the organization to develop and implement systemic solutions to resolve chronic business performance issues.
*Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience with component inspection and advanced metrology equipment, GD&T, CMM (Zeiss Calypso required, Hexagon PC-DMIS nice to have), and creating component control plans.
*Experience with component manufacturing/machining preferred, not required.
*4-year college degree preferred, not required
*Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices.
*Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand of electronic processing.
*Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
*Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
*Experience with castings / forgings, knowledge of special processes (anodize, nitride, flat lapping, plating, etc), and experience with first article inspection and PPAPs.
*3D solid modeling, CATIA preferred
*Proven experience with managing multiple deadlines with competing customer priorities.
*Ability to read drawings, interpret dimensioning schemes and GD&T, and counsel design engineers with drawing revisions
*Strong computer skills, organization, relational.
*Experience with AS9100.
*Change agent/transformational management
