Positions Location: Lansing, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Performs general maintenance and preventive maintenance in the upkeep to Sparrow Health System facilities, finishes, equipment, and grounds.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

- Performs general roundsman duties such as: completing work order requests, major and minor equipment repairs, general building/facilities deficiencies inspections and repairs.
- Remove and replace various lamps in light fixtures.
- Remove and replace stained ceiling tile.
- Performs miscellaneous helper and laborer functions when assigned to skilled trade teams.
- Performs grounds maintenance duties when assigned such as, but not limited to: exterior entrance cleaning, Performs cleaning tasks to assigned work areas, and other areas when requested.
- Maintain documents, records and information pertinent to meeting Health System & Engineering safety standards, including policies and procedures using software programs and manual recording.
- Interact with vendors, create purchase requisitions.
| Work Experience |
• 3 years of previous experience in commercial building maintenance with basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, and general building components, including exterior grounds maintenance. |
| Education |
• High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program • Must complete ASHE Health Care Physical Environment Worker Certification with in 2 years. |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
• Basic knowledge of power tools, hand tools and their uses. • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with good trouble shooting abilities as normally obtained through work • experience or mechanical education. • Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate a work order system. |
