DiaMedical USA is a fast-growing medical equipment distributor looking to fill a Senior Accountant position in our Farmington Hills, MI office. As a member of the Accounting team, the Senior Accountant will play a vital role in building the financial future of our company by performing general accounting activities as well as maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers.
This position requires above average attention to details, concern for correctness and quality of work, and a strong commitment to tasks completed on time. This role will be a technical expert who leads by example.
Key Responsibilities and other duties as assigned:
- Acts as the point of contact for all accounting-related questions from Accounting Supervisor and other departments.
- Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing tasks are completed by deadlines including bank reconciliations, account analyses, and reporting.
- Analyzes all balance sheet accounts and makes necessary adjustments via journal entries.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries.
- Reconciles inventory detail to the general ledger and ensures accurate valuation of inventory balances.
- Assists with daily A/P and A/R functions (including collection issues and escalations) during peak times to ensure activities are current and to reconcile the subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
- Reviews open orders for long term backorders and credit hold orders to ensure customer accounts are current.
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
- Maintains sales tax exemption certificates in Avalara CertCapture, and corresponding NetSuite profile fields related to each customer and ensures the certificates are valid and current.
- Reconciles general ledger to Avalara sales tax reporting and researches and corrects variances created by missing certificates or resale items.
- Prepares and analyzes reports including order backlog, booked orders, invoiced orders, and regional sales analysis using NetSuite canned reports and various Excel functions.
- Oversees the management of leases and other financial commitments.
- Works with managers on the creation and maintenance of departmental spending, budget to actual variances, and assists in the preparation of annual departmental budgets.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of related, progressive accounting and financial experience or the equivalent 7 years combination of education and experience.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven success in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting functions.
- Strong general ledger and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.
- Working knowledge of federal and state legislation relevant to accounting and finance.
- Multiple state sales tax filing experience.
- Experience working in accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs including advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills that build relationships and foster teamwork.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all proprietary planning development, operation processes, products, or documentation.
