Positions Location: Lansing, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Provides direct occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist according to the physician approved written plan of care.
Essential Duties
- Provides direct occupational therapy treatment to patients according to instruction of Occupational Therapist, and in accordance with the written plan of care.
- Observes patient and reports to Occupational Therapist and department personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
- Instructs patients, family and/or caregiver in proper techniques to assist patient in achieving maximum level of independence.
- Maintains necessary records, progress notes, and conference notes, which are incorporated into the patient’s clinical record within established time frame.
- Maintains professional standards, compliance with State, Federal (CMS conditions of participation) and Joint Commission regulations, and infection control protocol by participating in in-services, staff meetings, process improvement teams, continuing education seminars when available, and adhering to the SHC expectations – standards of care guidelines..
General Requirements |
• Current COTA license in the State of Michigan • Current Driver's License • Proof of Auto Insurance • Active American Heart Association BLS certification, upon hire |
Work Experience |
• Minimum of two years acute care experience |
Education |
• Associate degree, graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Demonstrated ability to work with patient, caregivers, and others in a variety of home care situation. • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal/communication skills, verbal and written. • Demonstrated ability to implement and follow policies and procedures of department and health system. |
This position is variable day shift hours.
