Maintenance Assistant
Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is looking for someone to hire to be a Maintenance Assistant in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
SUMMARY:
Position is responsible to maintain a clean and orderly manufacturing environment. This role is tasked with various maintenance responsibilities for equipment and facilities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Duties listed, as well as others may be assigned.
- Assists Maintenance Technicians with machine repairs and upgrades.
- Maintains building, performing minor and routine projects as required.
- Maintains cleanliness of interior/exterior of building as needed.
- Notifies management concerning need for major and minor repair to the facility.
- Maintain an organized work area and request reorder of materials as needed.
- Performs basic Preventive Maintenance on machines and equipment.
- Must be able to operate fork lifts and platform lifts where needed or required.
- Must be able to work at heights up to 24’ when required.

A few things you’ll need:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Candidate must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
