General Purpose of Job:
Directs the day-to-day activities of assigned staff assuring compliance with related regulatory regulations and Hospital standards
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Directs the day-to-day activities of assigned staff. Duties include hiring, training, counselling, evaluating staff performance, and, when necessary, disciplining and/or discharging staff.
- Develops and implements departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Radiology departments.
- Prepares and manages departmental budget(s); assures expenditures are within the approved budget(s).
- Assumes responsibility for coordinating and assuring adequate staffing coverage in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Works cooperatively and maintains communications with other departments and external parties to facilitate quality patient care, resolve problems and exchange information.
- Monitors departmental compliance with related regulatory requirements and Hospital standards; initiates corrective action as needed.
- Investigates and resolves issues and concerns regarding diagnostic operations and services.
- Participates on Hospital committees/task forces; attends meetings and performs related tasks as required.
- Prepares departmental documents and reports as required.
- Facilitates and/or attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
General Requirements |
• Must have at least one healthcare certification by a national accrediting agency, e.g. respiratory therapy, , radiologic technology,. |
Work Experience |
• Minimum of 3 years of related hospital experience (in relevant clinical discipline) • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead role or leadership position |
Education |
• High school diploma and graduate of an accredited radiology program or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology or Healthcare related field. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
• Strong Communication Skills including formal presentations • Strong customer service skills • Strong team building skills • Must be able to multi-task and be well organized • Proficient computer skills to handle administrative aspects of the position • Change management • Policy and process development • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. • Lean/Six Sigma project experience preferred |
