POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodial Lead will assist the Custodial staff in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment of the Casino and it’s related areas of operation. Keep custodial staff motivated and focused through mutual respect and guarded morale so to achieve its goals in a timely, effective and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Custodial Supervisor with, and in their absence perform the following:
- Ensure compliance to all policies and procedures as described within the employee handbook and departmental guidelines.
- Monitor performance results to ensure satisfactory compliance to departmental standards.
- Communicate performance results with Supervisor as needed.
- Monitor task scheduling to ensure compliance to departmental goals. (adjust when needed)
- Perform pre-assigned Custodial duties.
- Ensure prompt and diligent response to service calls.
- Communicate emergency service needs and failures.
- Assist Building and Grounds personnel as necessary.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must have High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: Must have served 2 verifiable years as a custodian at the Island Resort and Casino. Must have a minimum of 2 years previous assignment experience as a Custodial Lead.
Knowledge: Must have computer knowledge and be knowledgeable with Microsoft, Windows, Excel, and Outlook Express programs. Must be knowledgeable in the practices of custodial operations, general building maintenance, and successful staff supervision.
Skills and Abilities: Must have strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking abilities and prioritizing skills. Must be detail oriented. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to pass forklift training. Must possess a valid drivers license.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Personal computer, printers, copy machine, fax machine, and telephone/paging system. Commercial carpet scrubbers, extractors and buffers. Basic carpentry and plumbing tools. Snowplowing equipment and man-lifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Stand for up to 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Sit for up to 3 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to climb ladders and utilize man-lift equipment as needed.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently during an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to work with the following cleaners on a daily basis: acid based, ammonia based, and chlorine based.
- Must be able to wear rubber gloves during the cleaning of bathrooms and the clean up of bodily fluids.
- Must be able to use both right/left hands for repetitive motion for up to 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to frequently bend, squat, reach, twist, and rotate as needed within an 8-hour shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Weather extremes from summer heat/rain to winter cold, snow, and ice. Noise levels vary from roaring concert crowds to quiet employee talks. Mechanical noises depend on the task at hand and/or equipment involved.
Exposure to potential injury hazard will occur daily while performing the duties of the job.
- Working at or on elevated levels such as roofs, platforms, and lift equipment.
- Proximity contact with high voltage power equipment such as motors, pumps, and switchgear.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Proximity contact with high temperature devices and appliances such as deep fryers, grills, ovens, broilers and water heaters.
