Scope of Responsibility
Cascade Engineering has an opening for a Machine Operator. In this position you will be responsible for the assembly, inspection and packing of waste, recycling and agricultural containers ranging in size from 32 gallon to 96-gallon containers. In this position you will be required to use hand tools and to create high quality product while working safely.
Location: Buursma Plant (4950 37th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)
Shift: 6:00 pm - 6:10 am (working 3 days one week, 4 days the other and every other weekend)
Target Pay: $18.50 per hour + $1.20 shift premium
Responsibilities
Day to Day - Responsible for safely manufacturing quality products as instructed following standard work. Safely utilize tools (knives, nippers, etc.) and secondary equipment to produce high quality products and includes knowing how to use Personal Protective Equipment, proper lifting techniques, safety around conveyors and how to safely use torches
Setting the Standards - Understand and utilize the following: touch points, boundary standards, visual aids, combination sheets, and job breakdown sheets. Ensure the right part is placed in the correct packaging per applicable standard work. Using “quality criteria” ensure products are produced in a manner to meet established quality standards. Know how to read a label; follow applicable processes to create and apply labels to packaging appropriately. Use STOP authority to minimize scrap production
Continuous Improvement - Follow standard work and quality criteria to correctly identify and handling non-conforming product. Support the establishment of Flow Cell certification. Keep the work cell clean using the 6S process. Enter scrap numbers into MODS production computer system as trained in OJT (on the job training)
Collecting and Entering Data - Read and apply information provided on deviations and quality alerts. Perform data entry for various parts and products based on standard work. Understand and use information as needed from bill of materials. Set up/tear down the work cell following the correct processes
