The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a highly skilled, solutions-oriented Quality Engineer professional to join the Quality team responsible for all quality aspects on current and/or future programs as defined by the six types of quality. The selected individual willreport to the Model Responsible - Engineering Quality and will have experience in managing cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality landscape. The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. As part of our company's performance transformation, we're investing in quality improvements and creating a stronger, centralized Quality Organization. Organized into cross-functional teams, it's a unique FCA division consisting of manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality department members who work together to solve product quality issues and reduce warranty claims. The company has defined six different types of quality and set measurable targets for improvement in each category. This position does not offer relocation assistance - the selected candidate will be responsible for any and all relocations expenses.
The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing the resolution of issues associated with current or future vehicle design, build, and testing
Driving a disciplined approach to the problem solving and root cause analysis
Developing and establishing third party targets (Consumer Reports, Perceived Quality, JD Powers) and assess to ensure vehicles meets the defined target
Management of the Quality test vehicle fleets (ordering, updating, issue disposition)
Providing support in preparing the industrial head review packages associated with quality gates
Working closely with production unit leaders to stratify and eliminate quality issues on the plant floor
Corporate Quality - Engineering point of contact on their respective current or future vehicle programs
Coordinating product verification testing and perform thermal audits on pre-production vehicles to support production start approval
Driving and evaluating corporate and competitive products
Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
Display effective communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
Drive team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
Minimum 5 years' automotive related, design, development, quality experience
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong root cause analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Familiar with 3rd party quality metrics (i.e. J. D. Power, Consumer Reports)
Previous experience with new vehicle launches
Familiar with overall vehicle systems
Working knowledge of quality information systems
