Our Grand Rapids, Michigan customer is seeking 2 experienced 2nd shift Die Repair Techs for a contract-to-hire position at an hourly wage of $22-$26 per hour (plus applicable 5% 2nd shift premium) with a lot of overtime which is mandatory. 1st shift is Monday-Thursday working 10 hours daily (5:30am-4pm) + working 10 hrs of OT on Friday with some possible additional overtime on Saturday’s. They are averaging 50 hrs per week currently.
Die Maker with the responsibility for completion of die repair maintenance and design changes safely, accurately, and on time.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and upkeep of all production tooling, so as to produce quality stampings and comply with customer standards.
- Complete all assigned work (including all necessary paperwork) safely, accurately and on time
- Relay all necessary information to parallel departments to insure a quality and on time product
- Hi-lo operation.
- Define “root cause” of problematic areas of our process and help implement a permanent solution.
- Express ideas for better quality production or process.
- Operate crane to move dies.
- Welding
- Additional duties as assigned by Die Repair Supervisor.
- Use good judgment and common sense at all times.
- Keep a clean and safe work environment.

Education, Experience, Skills & Safety Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Someone with progressive die repair experience is required; up to 500 ton presses there.
- Hi-lo license.
- Journeyman card is preferred, but not required
- Properly use basic measuring and checking equipment and demonstrate and use troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication, reading, writing & math skills in English along with problem solving aptitude and skills
- Knowledge of lockout & tag-out procedures along with safety procedures,
- Sit, stand, mobile as required,
- Use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Vision and dexterity to maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- General manufacturing environment.
- Must have own steel toed work boots (safety glasses and ear protection will be provided); all must be worn at all times.
