Summary
Provides leadership and direction over the planning and operations of the Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation (MFB SAR) that includes operating plans and related operating and capital budgets, development and implementation of standardized policies and procedures, clinical integration, marketing, and community outreach. In doing so, ensures that programs and services are delivered in manners consistent with the strategic goals of MFB SAR.
This leader is responsible to demonstrate excellent customer service standards and behaviors, as well as encourage, coach, and monitor the same with all staff members. Consistently promotes teamwork and direct communication with co-workers. Deals discreetly and sensitively with confidential information. Models the Mary Free Bed Standards of Behavior in all interactions
Essential Job Responsibilities
Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
Program Leadership - Directs activities in the MFB SAR to assure high clinical quality and high value. Participates in development of strategy and annual priorities that support the mission, vision and values of Mary Free Bed. Assures skilled nursing services are provided in a timely manner and are coordinated across the continuum of care, when appropriate. Responsible for 24/7 accountability to department.
Clinical outcomes and customer experience - Held responsible to all clinical metrics, clinical outcomes, and other metrics related to quality and patient safety. Assures that patient satisfaction results meet or exceed targets as determined by the MFB SAR Board.
Partner Relations - Facilitates good communication with the partners of MFB SAR, which are Trinity Health Senior Communities and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Work collaboratively with partners to establish goals and patient outcomes that support all parties involved.
Fiscal Responsibility - In collaboration with Board members of the MFB SAR, prepares and monitors operating, personnel, and capital budgets for MFB SAR to meet programmatic needs, new service development, and financial goals. Monitors and assures achievement of productivity targets by staff. Responsible for financial performance of the MFB SAR.
Staff Selection and Performance Management - With the leadership team of the SAR, provides leadership related to the selection, hiring, orientation and training of new staff. Provides regular feedback regarding performance to those team members who have direct report to the administrator. Develops performance goals and appropriate methods of measuring progress. Conducts performance evaluations.
Staff Development and Mentoring - Provides program leadership related to orientation and education of new staff, as well as ongoing staff development and mentoring of existing staff. Encourages staff development through formal and informal learning opportunities and using competency-based education systems in accordance with educational needs. Supports and facilitates in-services, continuing education, and staff meetings.
Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement - Provides leadership related to quality improvement, ensuring appropriate standards of care in sub-acute rehabilitation are aligned with the hospital and skilled nursing industry requirements. Assures that care is provided in accordance with program priorities, policies, and procedures. This includes clinical standards of care, monitoring and mentoring of staff, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Ensures program compliance with all safety, procedural, and accreditation standards.

Works to effectively integrate all members of the patient care team to provide outstanding rehabilitation services. Accountable for effective and efficient operation of therapy and related areas of staff, ensuring physician referrals, treatment, and plans of care/clinical pathways are being carried out in a manner supportive of patient care.

Essential Job Qualifications
Must possess knowledge of healthcare delivery and management as normally acquired through a completion of a bachelor's degree (Masters Preferred) in Business Administration, or related field.
Proven experience as Administrator in skilled nursing, including sub-acute, (acting, covering, or permanent) preferred
3 years participating in or overseeing staff in skilled nursing environment
Must possess a current Michigan Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license.
Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills, resulting in addressing issues within 24 hours
Must have process improvement experience
Proven ability to develop and implement budgets as well as meeting or exceeding budget targets.
Share in leadership responsibility of after hours "on-call" rotation.
