BRIEF GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
Under direction of test program manager, plans, lays out, fabricates, modifies, overhauls, and installs mechanical and electrical equipment, testing equipment, experimental parts and assemblies on helicopters following drawings, sketches, blueprints, and written and/or verbal instructions using hand tools and power tools, according to Engineering Department schedules.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
*Experience with the installation and use of instrumentation and data collection systems.
*High level mechanical skills and ability to install and adjust all assemblies required.
*Ability to read and work from blueprints, specifications, sketches, drawings, and written and verbal instructions.
Ability to think creatively within the test program structure.
Ability to work independently, troubleshoot and solve problems with minimal supervision.
Sufficient computer skills to implement test programs.
Basic understanding of DC Electricity.
Ability and willingness to work unusual hours.
Ability to install and utilize all test equipment required on a sophisticated basis.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools required.
Ability to keep complex and accurate records.
Ability to use various sophisticated measuring tools and devices.
Ability to use high level shop mathematics.
A PLUS
A&P License with extensive experience and demonstrated expertise in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of aircraft and/or substantial expertise in experimental programs.
Sophisticated knowledge of the theory of helicopter flight and mechanical theories involved.
High level ability to do complex, precision mechanical work with hands.
Experience working in a testing and/or R&D environment.
