Overview:
TACK Electronics is a family owned and operated manufacturer of quality cables and wire harnesses. We accomplish this through a trained and dedicated work force. The right candidate will have strong manufacturing and assembling skills and should be able to work independently. Experience in wire harness assembly is a plus, but not a requirement. Training is available.
Success in this position will require someone to embrace the culture and meet or exceed quality, speed, and accuracy expectations as instructed and stated on each work order.
Job Description:
As part of the TACK work force you will be required to perform and/or be trained in some or all the following tasks. Other duties may also be assigned.
Blue prints and bills of material
Read a customer’s blue print and determine the proper assembly processes in order to make the assembly, including all written notes.
Understand a bill of material and be able to locate parts, identify their orientation, and assemble to print.
Correctly identify colors and use measuring devices like rulers, measuring tapes, calipers, and weigh scales.
Convert metric to SAE and back.
Processing wires and cables
Plug individual wires into connectors.
Cut multi-conductor cable without cutting through insulation.
Terminate both mechanically and manually.
Operate cutters of various types to cut cable, wire, and wire covering.
Identify the proper orientation of terminals within a connector.
Extract terminals that are inserted incorrectly without damaging them.
Label wires and cables proficiently.
Operate a cable tie gun and troubleshoot minor problems with same.
Set up a continuity tester, test finished product, and print out the results.
Bundle or bag your product to the customer’s specifications.
Pack finished assemblies for quality review.
Safely operate heat guns, strippers, cutters, and other hand tools.
Assembly inspection and time documentation
Visually inspect assemblies throughout the production process to ensure quality standards are met.
Document your time per given project.
General workplace requirements
Keep your work area and surrounding area clean and orderly, which may include sweeping your workspace and taking out trash.
Use all safety equipment provided to you including safety glasses.
Keep dialog and distractions to a minimum.
Keep the lunchroom clean and neat.
Seek a supervisor’s assistance when something is unclear or if you discover an issue with a piece of equipment you are operating.
Other tasks that you may learn as your tenure with TACK increases: Soldering, splicing, operating wire cutting equipment, making samples, making testers, group leading, special assignments, understanding other wire processing documentation, etc...
Additional Job requirements:
Learns and retains verbal and written instruction
Basic shop math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure)
High School Diploma or GED
Hand/Eye Coordination and dexterity
Must take direction well
Must get along well with others
Must have great attendance and punctuality
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
Knowledge with/or training to IPC 620B Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies is desirable
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Use of vision magnification maybe required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
