Position Summary
The Unit Human Resources Coordinator will partner with the department administrator to execute all things HR for the department. These functions include:
· serving as the unit resource for all jobs classifications | all positions | for all department research teams.
· process all HR hire forms in the SAP/EBS digital platform while simultaneously providing consistent follow up to hiring managers and research teams.
· Process position requests for classifications that include: Faculty and Academic Staff, Support Staff, Temp/ OnCall, Student hires, and Graduate Assistants, as required;
· Initiate postings| recruit applicants | complete hire recommendations | onboard new hires |reappoint all classifications as required | |enter change of status | enter cost distributions | enter terminations;
· schedule and participate in the search committee interview process as required;
· manage the execution of draft offer letters following the procedure implemented by the College of Human Medicine;
· When appropriate initiate/track background checks;
· initiate request for NetlD;
· verify I-9’s in person onsite at the Flint work location;
· scheduling onboarding,
· preparing office/workstation,
· communicate in writing and/or in person with candidates on an as-needed basis;
· Maintain department communication received in the general HR inbox.
· liaison with CHM HR and Central HR as needed throughout the entire hiring process;
· liaison with CHM HR to ensure that the college personnel file mirrors the Department file
· maintain Department Personnel files for all DPH units;
· Compile monthly reports (End Date, ACA, PMLA, Flint Directory, Active Employee Listing, Labor Distribution Report);
· Enter payroll for Temp/OnCall

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources, a related social science field, or a field related to the operations of the department; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a human resources function or an area related to departmental operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Human Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience applying and interpreting human resources policies and procedures.

Experience in Strategic Planning, Employee Relations, Staff Recruitment & Retention.

Experience in Performance Analysis/Management, Leadership Development, and Team Building.
- Be able to work independently using the MSU HR resources available after six months of training.
- Ability to enact deep critical thinking skills to navigate nuance HR situations.
- Be able to translate prior HR work experience to the MSU HR model.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional oral, written, and organizational skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.

Ability to partner, relate, and build trust with employees, managers, and supervisors at all levels of the organization.

High level of experience and comfortability working in a digital HR platform including Microsoft Office Suite and human resources management systems

Knowledge of EBS/PageUp platforms and/or other integrated systems that manage HR and Payroll.

Experience working in a fast pace intense HR environment where tracking each HR scenario is essential to maintain efficiency with workflow.

Demonstrated knowledge of executing DEIB goals in the workplace
