Unit Position Summary
At ILLIDAN Lab + Bin Lab at MSU, we are seeking a dedicated and innovative part-time Machine Learning Researcher to join our groundbreaking project on drug discovery. This role involves designing and implementing advanced machine learning models to identify and predict novel molecules with therapeutic potentials. As a researcher, you will be at the forefront of combining artificial intelligence with chemical informatics to revolutionize how drugs are discovered and developed. You will collaborate with a team of experts in machine learning, chemistry, and pharmacology to drive advancements in creating new treatments for diseases.
Desired Qualifications
- Educational Background: Must possess a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Chemistry, or a related field.
- Machine Learning Expertise: Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and data analysis techniques. Experience with neural networks, regression models, and unsupervised learning is essential.
- Experience in Drug Discovery: Prior experience or demonstrable interest in drug discovery, cheminformatics, or a closely related area is highly desirable.
- Programming Skills: Proficient in Python and familiar with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn). Experience with RDKit or similar cheminformatics tools is a plus.
- Research Skills: Ability to design experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings effectively. Experience in handling large datasets and conducting statistical analysis.
- Collaborative Spirit: Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with researchers from different disciplines.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
