Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This a temporary or on-call position. Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services. Consultants paid on grant funds must be paid on an hourly or daily basis, with a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
Counselors will administer a structured 12 week group intervention with women experiencing major depression following perinatal loss (i.e., miscarriage, stillbirth, early infant death). Counselors will also meet with each participant individually once before and once after the group sessions. Counselors will receive training and ongoing supervision in study interventions and in treating depression among women following perinatal loss from national leaders in this area. Michigan licensure for mental health treatment (e.g., social worker , psychologist, licensed professional counselor) required.
Desired Qualifications
Training and experience in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and/or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a plus but is not required.
Also a plus:
Experience treating major depression.
Experience working with perinatal women, mothers, and/or with bereavement
Experience conducting group therapy or psycho-educational groups without a co-therapist or co-leader
An interest in and respect for principles of clinical research
Clinical experience with women from minority backgrounds, especially African-American women
Th e ability to treat all participants and coworkers in a positive, honest and respectful manner.
A thorough understanding of and appreciation for principles of participant rights, consent and confidentiality. Basic computer skills.
Willingness to be audio taped.
Openness to learning and feedback in clinical supervision.
