Summary of Position: | The Ferris Library for Information, Technology, & Education (FLITE) at Ferris State University (Big Rapids, Michigan) seeks a collaborative, innovative, dynamic, and services-oriented Director of Library Services and Operations, a colleague with an entrepreneurial spirit who embraces the challenge of continuous digital change. Following library best practices and guided by the University and college strategic plan, the incumbent manages services and operations and shares in the development of services and personnel committed to accessibility, equity, and inclusion in a user-focused, information center designed for teaching, learning, and academic success.
This is a 12-month, administrative position reporting to the Dean. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a competitive benefits package.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Advocacy, Engagement, and Best Practice-Informed Management 1. Serve as an advocate for patrons, faculty, staff, and students and their needs, i.e., information literacy, collection, curriculum, access, and web development. 2. Provide information and advice on library services, policies, and procedures. 3. Following best practices, support planning, design, implementation, assessment, and redesign activities among a broad range of teaching and learning initiatives including but not limited to web-based tutorials, instructional videos, research guides, and websites. 4. Provide information and advice on library technology innovation, policies, and procedures. 5. Demonstrate commitment and understanding for diversity, equity, inclusion, and foster opportunities to increase a sense of belonging as part of the campus ethos.
Data Collection, Assessment & Continuous Improvement 6. Facilitate assessment activities, supporting university librarians to help inform services, operations, and continued innovation 7. Assist with collecting/analyzing data (research/reference, circulation, usage, value, programming, use experience, etc.) and with the preparation of reports. 8. Provided data-informed recommendations to drive continuous development and innovation of services and operations. 9. Manage, gather feedback, and elevate recommendations to continually improve upon established policies and procedures. 10. Regularly engage patrons through feedback solicitation practices.
Community, Professional Engagement & Development 11. Participate in shared governance. Provide first-level support to university librarians in accord with contractual agreements, policy, and procedure. 12. Collaboratively investigate and recommend new initiatives aligned with best practices in librarianship, and related technologies. 13. Supervise clerical-technical (CT) personnel in compliance with contractual agreements, and university policies and procedures. 14.
