A Day in The Life of a Business Analyst
Your day is a mix of offering assistance and collaboration on open support items, analyzing business processes, and implementing business process enhancements. You will work to design solutions that meet business needs while adhering to technical constraints and best practices. You will also manage projects from initiation to closure by developing project plans, tracking progress against milestones, and communicating status updates.
You won't always being working as a team of one, collaborating with your colleagues and other departments is critical. Through collaboration and business process integration you'll lead the development of test plans and scenario planning to ensure that technology solutions and business processes are in alignment. You'll also champion the use of technology in business processes through continuous improvement techniques. This means you'll provide ongoing support, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate resolutions through documentation and training of business systems.
Who You Are
You're the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and likes to troubleshoot and solve complex problems. You enjoy determining business process requirements, and how technology systems can be implemented to increase efficiency. You use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions to problems you encounter and are continuously monitoring to make improvements. You love to dig into the who, what, when, where, and WHY's in order to streamline processes and gain efficiency. You consider your ability to influence others' perspectives or decisions through effective communication among one of your top strengths to help foster collaboration and drive impactful change. You enjoy interacting with others through managing projects, providing support and knowledge sharing, teaching, and generally looking for ways to help others any way you can - but you have no problem spending some alone time tackling day-to-day tasks and projects either.
You've got some impressive credentials too. A bachelor's degree in information systems management or computer science and at least five years related experience (relational databases, various operating systems, reporting development tools including Crystal Reports, and competent with Microsoft Office including Visio)? This is the kind of stuff that makes you stand out. But hey, if you think you have equivalent education or experience, that you think are pretty impressive, we would love to hear about that too!
