Secondary Speech and Language Pathologist - 1.00 FTE
JOB SUMMARY:
Hamilton Community Schools invites dedicated Speech and Language Pathologists to apply for the open position of Middle School and High School Speech and Language Pathologist that's available starting in the 2024-2025 school year. We are excited to engage with quality candidates who are not only results-driven but also committed to inspiring students to develop their communication skills. This staff member will be responsible for instruction/program development in the area of communication through evaluation, development of goals and objectives, and planning and implementing individual and group sessions for students requiring speech and language services.
LOCATION: Hamilton Middle School and Hamilton High School
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assess the student's developmental speech and language level.
- Plan and implement individual education programs (IEP) to develop the speech and language of students.
- Complete and present a written evaluation report to parents/guardians and the local educational agency within the required timelines.
- Report and interpret the speech and language service delivery to parents, teachers, and others serving the student.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge base of the state standards and how language impacts students’ academic progress.
- Provide consultation to teachers, parents, and others as appropriate.
- Develop goals and objectives based on student needs.
- Participate/coordinate IEPT and MET meetings as appropriate.
- Consult with other personnel including teachers, principals, other student services staff, and parents to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports, and procedures including, but not limited to, lesson plans for sessions, related service log, and student progress on IEP goals/objectives.
- Travel to meet job requirements.
- Conduct parent/teacher conferences as appropriate.
- Provide training (professional development) for staff, students, and parents as appropriate.
- Work with or understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
- Work with or understanding of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
- Previous work with or understanding of Standards-Based Grading.
- Provide pre-referral consultation.
- Use various software packages for communication and documentation purposes.
- Complete Medicaid and other reporting as required.
- Maintain confidentiality
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
- Other duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGE: Per HEA Master Agreement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.
