Position Summary
The Thermal Process Lab is currently hiring for a Research Engineer position located at the Advanced
Power System Labs at Michigan Technological University. The position objective is to design, test,
and maintain the systems for a state-of-the-art solvent-based waste recycling system as well as the
torrefaction system, both at the pilot scale.
This position entails designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, and testing the key and
auxiliary systems and components of a torrefaction system and a solvent-based plastic recycling system
at Michigan Technological University’s Advanced Power Systems Laboratory (APSLabs). This
position also includes supervising and training undergrad and graduate students conducting research in
these areas.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experienced in CAD design.
• Proficiency in the installation and implementation of electrical and mechanical components,
including but not limited to heaters, sensors, AC motors and drives, PLC components, etc.
• The use of FEA in design and failure analysis.
• Able to work well in a team environment.
