Environmental Health and Safety Technician Level 1
Reports to: EHS Manager
General Description:
Assist EHS Manager in maintaining and improving regulatory requirements in accordance with MIOSHA (OSHA) and EGLE (EPA). This position will be a mixture of 20% Office and 80% Industrial experience.
Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinate and conduct safety inspections, audits, and assessments.
- Regulate compliance within facility.
- Prepare placarding and awareness postings such as JHA’s, LOTO, PPE, and safety signage.
- Train and educate operations on safe work practices.
- Coordinate and conduct environmental inspections.
- Use defined programs to conduct inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist/direct in maintenance of applicable Environmental and Safety Machinery.
- Track permit requirements and assist in yearly reporting.
- With support, manage air permitting machinery for optimal function.
- Interact with contractors to ensure quality inspection and equipment repair are being completed.
- Technical ability to make decisions and improvements.
- Assist in Incident Investigations.
- Maintain Safety Team and Culture.
- Work with sample testing equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
Postsecondary education in EHS, technical, or science related field. Two+ years related experience in industrial or consulting. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Must be able to wear a respirator and other appropriate protective equipment.

- Find technical solutions to identified problems/hazards.
- Experience in (or a combination of) Air Permitting (Scrubbers, Dust Collectors), Sewer Treatment, Stormwater, Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste handling.

Pay rate $21.63 to $26.44 depending on experience.
