The OTR (Over-the-Road) Truck Driver will drive Company trucks with a capacity of more than three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
This is a full-time, year-round position where the Truck Driver will deliver from our lumber yard in Arbor Vitae, WI to locations throughout Wisconsin and into surrounding states, which allows the Driver to be home nightly. There may be occasional overnight deliveries. This position is eligible for benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Plan route, drive, operate, and deliver loads to specified destinations within the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. Obey and follow applicable traffic laws.
- Secure and protect loads during transit (i.e., position tarps, tie ropes).
- Verify incoming and outgoing loads for accuracy of order to ensure no damage and complete order.
- Complete and confirm all paperwork is accurately finished for submission to Dispatch (i.e., obtain customer signatures, and sign receipts).
- Interact with customers and represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Provide continued communication with the Company through telephone and radio.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies (i.e., tires, lights, gas, oil, water, etc.) pre-and-post departure for safe, efficient, and timely travel. Obtain emergency repairs as needed.
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on trucks (i.e., spark plugs, lights, oil, etc.).
- Report defects, accidents, and violations to the Company.
- Maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations (i.e., truck log).
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid Commercial Driver’s License, and clean driving record required.
- Current CDL-Class A; current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate.
- At least six months’ OTR, tractor/trailer, driving experience, or commercial vehicle experience is required.
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Meet all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT and pass the required drug/alcohol tests.
