Disher Design & Development is a full-service product development and engineering services firm in West Michigan. Our engineering team is highly technical and diversified, serving in a variety of markets including automotive, office furniture, alternative energy, and medical. Our capabilities span from napkin through launch, providing numerous opportunities for us to partner with clients in product and process development, as well as in talent identification and attraction.
We are currently partnering with a West Michigan customer in their search for a business development manager. This is a fulltime, direct hire position with benefits for a small company that is a leading global solution provider for high performance progressive tools, precision stamped parts, precision moldings and assemblies for the automotive and other industries.
Responsibilities:
- Drive sales and business development activities for high precision metal stamped and plastic over-molded products.
- Act as key technical resource to North American customers and possibly international (German) customers, while working closely with executive management, engineering, operations and marketing to help drive and meet business goals.
- Identify new customer accounts to expand products to other industries to diversify overall accounts.
- Develop and expand products within existing industries (primarily the automotive industry).
- Calculate quotations and pricing with comprehensive consideration for customer requirements, costs, timelines, materials, manufacturing capabilities, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical leadership and product education, both internally and externally.
- Meet sales targets and act as company expert on technical trends and innovations, working very closely with the Technical Sales Manager.
- Support operations, engineering, and product management in successful product launches and in driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Discipline (Engineering or similar) highly preferred
- 5-10+ years of previous technical and/or sales experience with a manufacturing company
- Previous experience with market solicitation, quoting, customers and RFQs
- Experience in a high precision metal stamping and/or injection molding manufacturer required
- Previous experience in non-automotive markets with established customer base is required
- Some automotive industry experience is preferred
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- The ideal candidate will be willing to reside in the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area
- Approximately 20% travel throughout North America and Germany
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States of America for any employer without restrictions or expirations.
