Position: Detention Youth Care Specialist
Department: Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center
Status: On-Call
Classification/Salary: $15.00 / hour
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Individual in this position is responsible for the direct supervision, guidance, treatment, and care of detained
residents with emphasis upon observation, inter-personal relationship, group process, recreation, personal hygiene,
and security in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Individual is responsible for written reports
documenting a resident’s behavior while detained. Individual is expected to continue his/her professional
development through an organized staff training program.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A direct care worker shall have completed 30 semester hours of college or equivalent quarter hours.
• In place of meeting the requirement specified above, a direct care worker shall have a minimum of a high
school diploma or its equivalent and two years of work experience in a facility or child caring institution.
