Performs a variety of technical assignments which impact the design, test, calibration, efficiency, and application of the company’s electrical products
Duties and Requirements of the Job
- This position, although highly technical in scope, assignment and direction, is not typically occupied by an academically trained or registered engineer.
- Assembles electrical circuits, performs various tests on the circuits and collects & records data on the circuits.
- Operates equipment such as oscilloscopes, coil winding machines, SMT assembly machines and custom test equipment as needed.
- Assembles and operates small engines such as but not limited to chainsaws, string trimmers and brush cutters.
- Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
- Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Required Training, Knowledge and Experience
- In depth knowledge of area of specialty including applied and developmental knowledge of a complex technical nature, as may be evidenced by a 4 year degree in the applied sciences.
- Equivalent experience, including a proven performance record as a technician may be accepted.
Essential Functions
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Assembles electrical circuits and conducts electrical tests.
- Assembles and operates small engines.
- Works in a laboratory setting with oscilloscopes, multi-meters, pick and place equipment, coil winding equipment and other related equipment.
- Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Works at telephone answering equipment and at a PC.
- Works within a laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold wet, and fumes/chemicals.
- May be required to travel to plant and/or customer sites.
