Job Summary
Performs a variety of electrical engineering or computer science work including such areas as circuit design, code development, test, and calibration.
Duties and Requirements of the Job
- Designs and develops microprocessor based circuits used primarily in magneto ignition systems.
- Designs and develops schematics, PCB layout and the necessary documentation to release circuit designs into serial production.
- Develops code to control all aspects of a microprocessor based small engine management systems.
- Works in a laboratory setting with oscilloscopes, multi, pick and place equipment, coil winding equipment and other related equipment.
- Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
- Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Required Training, Knowledge and Experience
- In depth knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and is disciplined in their application.
- Knowledge is typically evidenced by a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Preferred knowledge of the programming language C or Assembly
- Fluently speak, understand and write English and Japanese.
- Travel and/or relocation is required.
Essential Functions
- Regular and predictable attendance.

Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around, under, and about laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Works at telephone answering equipment, design equipment, and at a PC.
- Works within a components manufacturing, office, and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
- Regularly travels to plant and customer sites.
