In this position, you will support the GFS Marketplace division with a broad spectrum of financial activities related to our retail stores. Your responsibilities will include compiling, analyzing, and providing recommendations on financial information, preparing general ledger entries, and performing account reconciliations. You will also assist with other accounting responsibilities such as preparing budgets and reviewing compliance with established controls. Your diverse responsibilities will position you well for growth opportunities.
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:
* Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or related field.
* Two years previous Accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
* Excellent analytical, information gathering, written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills.
* The ability to interpret financial data efficiently and accurately while being proficient in documenting detailed process systems and control procedures.
* The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
* Knowledge of spreadsheet, work processing, presentation, e-mail and internet software applications.
* Knowledge and experience using accounting software, Lawson accounting system preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Create monthly financial reports and schedules.
* Perform bank deposit account reconciliations.
* Assist in the development of the annual operating plan (budget).
* Analyze and interpret financial data, identify trends, assists in the detection and research of asset protection opportunities, and communicate conclusions.
* Provide recommendations that will create efficiencies and improve processes and controls.
* Identify revenue enhancing and cost saving opportunities.
* Monitor and review compliance with company procedures/controls that protect people and safeguard assets, and properly communicate asset protection and training opportunities.
* Evaluate inventory valuation and accuracy for Retail Stores.
* Prepare general ledger entries.
* Become cross-trained on numerous other departmental responsibilities such as reconciling point of sale credit card transactions and processing bad checks.
* Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books & journals and attending related seminars.
* Consultative support to Store Operations to include training and directing in sound accounting practices.
