Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning and ordering of raw materials to support manufacturing and customer orders. Releases orders to the floor using MRP to meet manufacturing schedules. Keeps the plant level loaded and utilizes principles of Just In Time. Investigates if customer orders were not met.
- Analyzes MRP exception report for requirements. Examines and analyzes each item. Looks for new sales orders inserted to ensure shortages do not occur. Investigates reasons for past due items.
- Forecasts and expedites material to meet production line demands. Schedules incoming purchased product to correspond with sales order ship date requirements.
- Schedules department, minimizing the number of set ups required by combining similar types of jobs where possible. Level loads departments.
- Releases purchase orders to outside vendors, for product, to meet master schedules.
- Analyzes and manages inventory errors and makes corrections as necessary.
- Where required, analyzes each newly released laboratory sales order to determine the feasibility of providing product upon requested ship date.
- Communicates internally, in writing, verbally and via computer, to resolve issues. Communicates externally with suppliers to resolve issues that affect planning function.
- Tracks on time complete shipments, reasons for late or incomplete shipments and percentage of on time delivery.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties:- Performs database maintenance for assigned commodities, product lead time, standard costs, standard quantities, codes, vendor information etc.

- Coordinates with quality control and buyer to resolve and dispose of raw material rejection notices.
Minimum Requirements
- Four year Business or Associate’s degree or equivalent education/work experience.
- Two to four years of job related experience.
- Knowledge of MRP and Just In Time principles.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of product, manufacturing methods and procedures, and purchasing principles.
- Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to translate facts, exchange information and the ability to persuade others to take action.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills.
