Position: Machine Operator
Reports to: Team Leader—Manufacturing & Production
Shifts: 1st Shift (6:30am-2:30pm), 2nd Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm), 3rd Shift (10:30pm-6:30am), Continuous Days (6:30am-6:30pm 2 days on/2 days off/3 days on), Continuous Nights (6:30pm-6:30am, 2 days on/2 days off/3 days on)
Pay: Starting hourly is $12.70 with ample opportunity for overtime and growth
Mission: The Machine Operator in Grand Rapids, Michigan, sets up and operates machines according to standard, documented procedures and instructions to produce parts that meet or exceed documented quality standards in an exemplary manner according to company quality policies.

Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or GED
- Three months experience operating machines, such as welders, riveters, grinders, tappers, assembly machine, or manufacturing machinery
- Excellent work records (including attendance)
- Operators are responsible for owning a set of approved calibers.
The Primary Activities of the Machine Operator include:
Machine Operation/Quality:
- Prepare machines and their work sites for set up.
- Read, understand and complete all production paperwork.
- Follow set up instructions when operating machines.
- Read, follow and complete tags.
- Follow control plans (inspection sheets) to complete first piece and in-process checks.
- Operate machines to process parts, such as loading and unloading components
- Conduct visual inspections of parts.
- Use calipers and micrometers, as required.
- Operate the CMM and interpret CMM reports.
- Troubleshoot machines to ensure both part quality and maximum production levels.
- Utilize machine downtime.
- Perform production support activities as directed by the Team Leader.
Safety/Continuous Improvement:
- Follow safety procedures during all phases of work with and around machines, including use of controls, safety devices, and coolants, and uses personal protective equipment for the work environment.
- Identify potential safety issues and takes appropriate action.
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area to optimize performance (based on audit score).
- Increase necessary technical knowledge.
- Suggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency.
- Participate in, and support, lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and problem-solving events.
- Identify and attempt to eliminate types of waste.
