Job Purpose
Sr. Systems Engineer, EV Auxiliaries with Dana Inc. will support the development of integrated electrified powertrain and vehicle systems for the Commercial Vehicle Business Unit. A major focus of this position will be to design and develop eAuxiliaries like the Power Distribution Units (PDUs) for distributing high voltage energy in EV Trucks and develop HV Charge PDUs for High Voltage Battery Charging. In addition to component design, there will also be development of High Voltage Architecture at the vehicle level helping to design and develop fully integrated EV Trucks.
Your task is to understand and interact with the client's engineering team to deliver a BEV and BEV components that exceed expectations. Your workplace will be very dynamic, fast-paced and will include many different tasks. You can expect to lead the design and development of new and innovative electric vehicle systems from concept to production with an emphasis on the electrified eAuxiliaries portfolio.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Design and develop Power Distribution Units (PDUs) for distributing high voltage energy in EV Trucks.
Design and develop HV Charge PDUs for High Voltage Battery Charging.
Design analysis including sizing contactors, busbars, choosing voltage, current, temp sensors & PCB design.
Requirements review and management of input, stakeholder, system, and component requirements.
System diagram development including HV and LV Architecture, HVIL, and Network Topology.
Develop complete electric vehicle systems, subsystems, and components to improve and expand Dana's EV product portfolio with a commitment to improving vehicle safety, performance, and fuel economy.
Support vehicle-level system activities with a team of systems engineers on a specific OEM program, including vehicle-level feature definition with customer, requirements definition and coordinate with hardware and software teams to write lower-level requirements ensuring full-system definition and traceability.
Develop internal system test benches that duplicate the vehicle environment to provide system verification and root cause analysis of issues.
Collaborate closely with validation team to define test cases at component, system and vehicle level, and ensure every requirement can be tested and traced.
Collaborate with vehicle integration team to ensure Dana instrumentation is integrated into vehicle or system benches and functioning per design.
Lead generation of all engineering/quality documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, BD, PD, SDS, Functional Safety, etc.), with an emphasis on a full requirements cascade.
Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect required data.
Follow Stage Gate development processes to meet project goals, including budget, timing and quality of delivery. Document lessons learned and update OneDana procedures.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Systems, Aerospace, Control Systems or related field required; Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
4 years' experience in power electronics or electrical design, systems, aerospace, or automotive engineering translating new ideas and concepts into prototypes through detailed design processes is required.
Experience in the automotive industry preferred; focus on systems engineering.
Experience in the design of EVs preferred.
System related training or certifications preferred.
Experience with FSAE, Baja, Solar Car, etc. desirable.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Experience designing high voltage parts and systems is preferred.
Knowledge of Electrical design tools is preferred.
Knowledge of creating DFMEA and DVP&R documents is preferred.
Knowledge of Requirement management software such as Polarion, DOORS, etc is preferred.
Knowledge of control systems, diagnostics, and cyber security requirements is desirable.
Knowledge of Functional Safety and ISO26262 is desirable.
Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to identify and resolve issues and challenges.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
Ability to multi-task effectively on projects and assignments
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills required in English. French knowledge is a plus.
Strong organization, scheduling and facilitation skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in order to meet deadlines and goals
