We are looking for a Chief Engineer. This is a key engineering role, supporting the Systems Engineering process, culture, competency and discipline within Tenneco globally. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer with a deep understanding of applying system engineering principles and significant technical depth and experience with emission control technologies. In addition, the candidate will have leadership capability, excellent communication skills and strong influencing capabilities. The position will focus on the development of systems engineering methodologies and tools and support cross-functional teams working on NTI projects as a subject matter expert across all global engineering centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Subject Matter Expert in Systems Engineering:
Be a thought leader in contemporary Systems Engineering practices
Facilitate Systems Engineering training for engineering groups
Support definition of SE team's objectives that are in alignment with Tenneco's corporate goals.
Develop and implement requirements management process including developing a common "Requirements Language".
Implement requirements management tool to capture, cascade and manage requirements.
Identify and propose deployment of other tools to develop and maintain Systems Engineering and System Integration capabilities within Tenneco.
Develop process maps, methods, and procedures for the Systems Engineering function
Support establishment of relationships with key partners and vendors to supplement Tenneco internal Systems Engineering capabilities.
Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills and network with professional colleagues, suppliers, and customers
Support NTI cross-functional teams with methodologies, tools and resources:
Drive activities to execute advanced system development projects (e.g. requirements capture and cascade, system architecture, system level testing).
Ensure the identification, collection, development, management and propagation of requirements for all projects are robust, valid and follow the defined process.
Play a key role in evaluating design tradeoffs, balancing technical risk between systems, defining and assessing interfaces, providing oversight of verification and validation activities.
Develop project documentation, including systems planning documents, requirements/specification documents, FMEAs, verification and validation documents, and other technical documentation.
Support the development of overall project timelines
When required, co-ordinate laboratory resources to perform system level testing.
Participate in project technical reviews, WWE meetings and other Tenneco engineering forums dedicated to technology development.
Support adherence to Tenneco policies and procedures (NTI, TenPlus, HR, EH&S and others).
Required Experience
EDUCATION: BS or MS in Engineering
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
8+ years of experience developing complex systems for after treatment, powertrain and/or related technologies.
Experience in leading teams of engineers, designers and technicians is desirable
Self-directed with excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to influence positive change in an organization
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in defining product/system requirements and system integration
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORs, Caliber, PTC Integrity).
Experience with modern development, modeling and CAE tools, i.e. Matlab/Simulink, GT Power, AMESim
Knowledge of DFSS, Lean and Six Sigma principles and methodologies
Working knowledge of emissions regulations in US, Europe, China, India
Knowledge of CI and SI engine aftertreatment and exhaust systems, specifically dealing with criteria pollutants (e.g., PM and NOx) and GHGs.
Knowledge and experience in product and software development
Fundamentals in diesel and gasoline engine operation
Knowledge in the field of automotive sensors and actuators
