FIRE ALARM SPECIALTY TECHNICIAN
"Fire?Alarm?Specialty?Technician Apprentice”?(FAST?Apprentice):?is a State licensed and regulated person employed by a Fire & Security-Alarm Contractor with an intent of attaining official?FAST?Licensing.
Apprentices are directed throughout a total of a 4-year timeframe?(or less)?in preparation for passing the State?Fire?Alarm?Specialty?Technician?(FAST)?OPEN-BOOK exam.
Everyday jobs are directed under the personal supervision of your assigned Licensed?FAST?personnel and include a combination of in-the-field On-The-Job-Training?(OJT)?and classroom lab assignments including shop organizing, materials and hardware inventory, etc.
Apprentices will be registered under the Burglar & Fire Alarm Association of Michigan (BFAAM) Apprenticeship Course while remaining employed. The on-line course is divided into four 6-month period OPEN-BOOK testing levels. Apprentices may complete the two-year course as outlined or take a faster track in their learning and income earnings by completing the course sooner. ??????A graduation diploma will be issued from the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) upon successful conclusion of the BFAAM program naming you as a?Protective-Signal Installer.
At this point, Apprentices will be registered under the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in preparation for passing two of the four total OPEN-BOOK exams?(within 2-years or sooner).?Upon achieving NICET FIRE ALARM Level I & II, Apprentices qualify to take the State?FAST?OPEN BOOK exam. ?
The numerous roles of importance as a Licensed?FAST?include life and property savings interests, project management assignments, learning FIRE-CAD design software and instructing new recruits.
This level of success comes with the added confidence to be proud of; going from Apprentice to a Licensed?FAST?is only the beginning!
Our compensation offer is dependent upon an Employees scheduled and on-call availability to work locally and/or on out-of-town projects. Travel and lodging per-diem allowances will be included.
