We are looking for a HR Director, U.S. Labor Relations. The Human Resources Director will be responsible for the implementation and administration of policies and programs covering all the following: employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, talent development and deployment (performance management), EEO and affirmative action, labor negotiation, training and safety for the U.S. Powertrain Manufacturing Facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops U.S. based manufacturing H.R. strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Partners with the human resources directors in U.S. operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
Accomplishes the U.S. union contract strategies by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction. Manages Company strategy in the possible event of a Union Organizing Campaign.
Supports U.S. plant management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
Oversees all of the U.S. handbooks, reviews and approves any changes to local policies or procedures.
Complies with U.S. federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Required Experience
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource or related field required, Master's Degree or Law Degree preferred.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10+ years in Human Resources generalist positions including manufacturing plants and generalist positions in both union and union-free plants. Professional certification (SPHR or similar) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years U.S. National Contract Negotiations experience.
Broad U.S. HR experience in manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience managing complex labor law matters.
Thorough knowledge and experience in strategizing, planning and leading labor negotiations including CBA renewals, effects/plant closure bargaining and grievance/arbitration cases.
Prior recruiting experience for plant, professional and technical H.R. positions.
Demonstrated leadership ability with proven experience in strategy development and critical thinking and problem solving.
Ability to make sound and reasoned decisions, including the ability to break a problem/situation into various components, and to clarify the various components of a problem/situation through probing, seeking out knowledgeable parties, observing and skillful questioning.
Uses problem-solving techniques and tools. Able to integrate information (including technical matters) from various sources to generate priorities and reach sound conclusions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence as well as strong presentation skills to deliver presentations and respond to questions in group settings (union avoidance training, positive employee relations programs).
Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with employees at all levels of the Company.
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
Demonstrated attention to detail to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of U.S. state and federal employment laws and workers' compensation.
Experience in FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Safety, NLRA, FLSA, WARN Act and OSHA compliance.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues and documents.
Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint usage and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated experience conducting thorough investigations into employment matters; manages and responds to all US Hotline Calls; responds to NLRB, EEOC and any other U.S. federal government agency labor related charge.
Primarily responsible for maintaining Union Free facilities through pro-active employee relations, communication tools and providing training to all People Leaders.
