The EHS Manager is responsible for all aspects of the EHS strategy and functions to ensure the regulatory compliance, safety, health, and welfare of all employees. They develop, implement, and drive all EHS continuous improvement plans by meeting or exceeding all federal, state, local and company standards, this includes OSHA, MIOSHA, IOSHA, NFPA, and DEQ policy’s. They are the champion on all safety and environmental initiatives with the intent to continually improve processes and the environment with an exemplary manner.
Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety (with an emphasis in Environmental Health Management)
- Knowledge and understanding of MIOSHA/OSHA safety regulations, NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency standards, OSHA 18001 standards, local, state, and federal rules and regulations (GR city waste, MDEQ, and EPA), and ISO 14001
- Previous experience managing employees, and safety and environmental issues within a manufacturing environment required, including experience auditing job sites for health and safety compliance
- Experience with creating safety awareness and training programs and ergonomics analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lead and drive projects to completion
- MIOSHA level 1 certification and Certified Storm Water Operator (SWPPP) certification preferred
- An excellent work record, including attendance.

Essential Functions:
Safety:
- Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, IATF 16949, and safety regulations.
- Maintain active involvement in safety organizations (such as PMA), using resources to assist in the identification of opportunities related to safety and environmental issues.
- Ensure yearly fire, tornado, and spill drills are schedule and performed at all locations.
- Lead cross functional safety committee to help recognize and address any safety related issues, while also raising awareness of safety related issues.
- Act as the main contact for qualified safety item suppliers for items such as chain slings, crane hooks, gloves, etc.
- Administer required reoccurring safety training/testing, such as first aid, blood borne pathogens, forklift/hi-lo/PIT training, crane training, lock out tag out, confined space, audiometric, and new employee safety training.
- Be the point of contact for any MIOSHA/IOSHA visits, complaints, or other related items.
- Work with business units to ensure compliance in all areas of safety and take the lead in all safety related 8-D’s.
- Create workplace and employee safety awareness programs, as well as employee recognition programs.
- Work with the Human Resources department to continuously improve employee safety training programs (lockout/tag-out, forklift/hi-lo/crane training, PPE, and environmental awareness programs) and tracked.
- Ensure compliance of National Fire Protection Codes by implementing programs for our employees that will safeguard our people and our workplace. Work with outside contractors to ensure they meet the NFPA standards/codes.
- Ensure compliance of Pridgeon & Clay and MIOSHA/IOSHA/OSHA safety regulations by outside contractors and vendors working within or for Pridgeon & Clay.
- Understand all local, state and federal laws that include MIOSHA/IOSHA/OSHA and DEQ regulations and verify compliance with all policies and practices.
- Maintain all required documents for safety regulations.
- Schedule and coordinate all state and local inspections related to safety.
