Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Ann Arbor, MI office is seeking Substation EIT/Designer to join their nationally ranked Power Delivery Team. As a Substation EIT/Designer you will work under the supervision of experienced engineers and your responsibilities will include:
Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers. .
Communicate with Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements
Work collaboratively under the direction of the Project Managers and Project Engineers
Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for construction work packages.
Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings compliant with national design standards, safety codes, and project specific requirements
Work on designs that typically include one-line diagrams, protection, and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cabling sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
Some travel may be required.
Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to details and good organization skills
Ability to travel
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
Preference given to local candidates.
Substation design experience highly preferred.
