Summary
Responsible for the mechanical assembly, startup, commissioning, qualification and acceptance of a variety of applications including metal cutting machines, assembly, test, conveyance and transfer systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Understands customer specifications (corporate and plant) and standards required to commission systems.
Responsible for the overall start-up, runoff and acceptance of machines and systems.
Responsible for mechanical assembly and integration of components and sub-components up to and including completed machines or systems.
Responsible for understanding CMM or other inspection data and making effective machine adjustments to achieve output quality requirements
Coordinate and review with Technical Leaders, colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project.
Checks drawings for errors. Reports errors and suggested modification to Engineering as required, within the Comau change process guidelines.
Works within the scope definition and timing (due date) requirements.
Performs troubleshooting and debugging for intermediate to complex machine applications.
Knowledge & Skills
Highly skilled in mechanical component and sub-component assembly (fixtures, spindles, drives)
Skilled in CNC machining system fundamentals (axis identification and troubleshooting, ...)
Fluent understanding of mechanical and fluids drawings, working knowledge of electrical drawings.
Fluent understanding of Geometric Data and Tolerances (GD&T), CMM reports.
Experienced with manufacturing processes, either metal cutting or assembly/test process. Knowledge in both areas highly preferred.
Experienced with ISO programming conventions (G-code, M-code), part programming
Highly skilled with conventional measurement tools (calipers, gages)
Skilled with electronic measuring tools (ball bar, laser)
Working knowledge of hydraulic / pneumatic / wiring fundamentals.
Travel - Must be able to travel locally and internationally, up to 100% as projects require.
