**** Hybrid schedule 2 days in office required ****
Is key stakeholder for New Business team in all forecasting, reporting and company discussions on growth and development. Identifies potential areas of growth for the company to support budget needs and system integrity. Performs new business acceptance evaluations in accordance with approved Washington Gas line extension policies and procedures. Supports Sales, Marketing and Customer Growth organization through analyzing and reporting on both customer and potential customer data.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Identifies future areas of growth and development to ensure the company's future infrastructure needs are met
* Leads departmental forecasting and reporting based on development patterns and trends within the service territory
* Oversees biannual 10-year plan which forecasts development for more than 3,000 areas within Washington Gas service territory for use in determining capacity requirements and system enhancement needs. Identifies areas for improvements in the plan that will result in more accurate reporting.
* Represents department in organizational meetings regarding how growth and development impacts the service territory
* Identifies opportunities in forecasting and reporting process to more accurately calculate capital expenditures
* Verifies and validates all data necessary to estimate project Net Present Value (NPV) and Contributions In Aid of Construction (CIAC). Partners with Sales, Sales Support and others in the division to resolve issues and answer outstanding questions related to new business evaluations.
* Utilizes Asset Resource Management System (ARM) and other Washington Gas systems to assimilate project data required to perform new business evaluations. Reconciles Business Case Authorizations (BCAs) by comparing and correcting data.
* Assimilates and analyzes construction costs, expected revenue and other financial assumptions to determine potential project profitability and related pricing.
* Performs Cost Breakdowns providing detailed cost information on New Business Evaluation for Sales Support.
* Understands and applies Washington Gas tariffs and regulatory programs as it relates to new business evaluations and provides solutions for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs
* Identifies and reports on and compliance issues impacting new business.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
* Bachelor's Degree Urban Planning, Real Estate, Economics or related field preferred
* Master's Degree preferred
* 5+ Years Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, Economics or related field required
* Knowledge of growth and development patterns, particularly in the Washington DC metropolitan area preferred
* Geographical Information Systems and spatial analysis experience preferred
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills required, including filtering/sorting and building pivot tables
* Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred
* Knowledge of financial concepts such as revenue, return-on-investment (ROI) and net present value (NPV).
* Ability to communicate clearly through both written and verbal means.
* Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
* Ability to work self-sufficiently with minimal supervision
