MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with strong math and reading skills
- Must pass Locksmith Qualification Exam issued by the Associated Locksmiths of America, within a reasonable period of time.
- Demonstrated understanding of core and lock coding with Best Access and other key systems
- Valid Michigan Driver License
- Ability to be bonded within a reasonable period of time
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills
- Ability to begin and follow through with the task(s) or plan identified in the job description, and to take the first step in performance of those duties and responsibilities; including reporting of facilities or grounds maintenance needs; on one's own, without prompting or direction from others
- Three years locksmith job-related experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with others and maintain good working relations with supervisors, co-workers, and the University community
- Ability to follow and apply both routine and specific maintenance safety procedures
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment, based on specific situation
- Ability to work alone or as member of a team, perform assigned duties within scheduled time limits,
and adapt to rounds and emergency scheduling
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, equipment specifications, and instruction manuals
- Knowledge of maintenance equipment, tools, materials, and work methods
- Ability to physically lift, carry, push, and/or pull maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, heating, cooling, lighting, etc. tools and equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, maintain one's balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, hear, and distinguish colors when performing job duties
- Ability to pass job-related physical examination, skill test, and/or State/Federal mandated training, licensing, and/or certification requirements, within a reasonable period of time
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes
- Subject to potential hazards such as electrical currents, moving parts, and chemicals
- Exposure to fumes, odors, and dust
