Who We Want
Miller Industries is seeking an Entry-Level Project Engineer for our MiFab Division to work at our Thompson Road location in Fenton, MI.
You will be working as part of an integrated team to apply engineering, project management, problem-solving, and communication skills across all levels and disciplines within the engineering and detailing phase of a specific project.
What You Will Be Doing
- Analyze and engineer custom automotive conveyor projects to include, but not limited to calculations, cycle time studies, and layout studies.
- Analyze and design custom steel mezzanines and platform steel structures to include, but not limited to calculations and layout studies.
- Analyze and design custom automotive fixtures to include, but not limited to calculations, finite element analysis, and layout studies.
- Attend customer bid-meetings, contract meetings and walk-throughs, as necessary.
- Assist with the creation and release of project drawings as required to meet the intent of the customer’s design requirements.
- Travel to customer project sites to perform field checks or onsite field engineering as necessary.
- Create and release purchased parts, materials and equipment lists to purchasing.
- Follow build status of engineered projects internally and externally.
- Support of project management in project schedule coordination.
- Maintain an excellent relationship with internal and/or external customers and delivering to their expectations.
- Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to peers and clients.
- Assist Team to ensure that all legal and regulated obligations, (e.g., OSHA, building codes), for the company, from an Engineering and Design standpoint, are met and act as needed to ensure the actions of the company and its employees meet all federal, state or local laws and regulations.
- Check and review of shop detail fabrication drawings to ensure compliance with the structural design documents.

What Requirements Are Needed
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or Science related discipline, required. Equivalent experience considered.
- 1-3 years of concurrent Mechanical/Structural Engineering Experience.
- Ability to support structural and mechanical designs and detailing of the products starting with the proposal up to the end of life phase.
- Ability to read blueprints and operate engineering software such as Auto-Cad/Solidworks.
- Strong Math skills to ensure understanding of project related budgetary considerations, coupled with strong reading and listening skills.
- Ability to communicate and interface with colleagues, to effectively cooperate with sales, estimating, project management, engineering and manufacturing group personnel.
- Strong interpersonal skills, technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Exemplary planning and organizational skills (multi-tasking and time-management).
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and with teams of multiple disciplines.
- Familiar with design and analysis of platforms, support steel, material handling equipment/conveyance and miscellaneous structural steel.
- Possess excellent attention to detail.
