DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Duties:
* Conduct Calibration, Development, and Durability testing of Engines, Powertrains, and/or Transmissions using a Dynamometer and associated Emissions, Combustion Analysis, and Environmental testing systems.
* Perform many of the following tests: General Development, Engine Mapping, Automap, A/F, EGR, Cyl/Cyl distribution, Pre-ignition, PT calibration testing, Transmission Calibration testing, Shift profile and calibration testing, Transient testing, Durability, Cat Aging, Cold and Hot environmental testing.
* Must have a working knowledge of general diesel and gasoline engine operation; Perform troubleshooting and modifications to engines and various other test articles; Perform maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
* Understand Pressure, Temperature, and Torque measuring systems and controls.
* Understand and operate multiple computer systems controlling the operation and data acquisition systems in real time.
Responsibilities include knowledge of and/or ability to:
. * Dyna cell installation and support systems (air handling, environmental, cooling).
. * Autotest and Caltool - Ability to enter Fuel tables, Spark tables, and engine calibration tables.
. * Ability to understand and use communication nodes to control multiple computer control systems (ATI Vision, ADACS, CAS, DSP, INCA, and Horiba) ETAS/INCA - Calibration Tools.
. * Expertise with the operation and troubleshooting of ADACS test control and data acquisition system.
. * Knowledge of ADACS spreadsheet for automated testing of prototype engines.
. * Ability to build/troubleshoot tests & alarms .
. * Ability to navigate through the ADACS library and upload tests.
. * Analyzers - Fast-FID, Fast-NOX, Fast-Co2 analyzers, Opacity Meter/Smoke Meter, CAS - Combustion Analyze.
. * Throttle Robot and/or Shift Robot setup.
. * Interface with Test Development and Calibration Engineers to review test procedures, data review, line-up, and problem diagnosis.
. * Troubleshoot Engines/Powertrains, procedures, and Dynamometer testing equipment problems and conduct or coordinate repairs.
. * Related use of scopes, Volt/Ohm meter and other engine diagnostic equipment
. * Perform mechanical work related to repairs or test set up requirements
* Must have a strong knowledge of current Gasoline and Diesel Engines and their emissions and performance.
* Familiarity with engine fuel, ignition, cooling, and A/C systems.
* Help commission new test facilities and equipment as needed.
* Participate in the development and implementation of new or modified test procedures and methods as needed.
* Conduct and monitor DQA/PQA checks and ensure Calibration compliance.
* Use of CAD/prints for exhaust layout. Diagrams for electrical and vacuum information.
