Software Design Engineer--
Disher Design & Development is a full-service product development and engineering services firm in West Michigan. Our engineering team is highly technical and diversified, serving in a variety of markets including automotive, office furniture, alternative energy, and medical. Our capabilities span from napkin through launch, providing numerous opportunities for us to partner with clients in product and process development, as well as in Talent identification and attraction.
We are currently partnering with an automotive firm in their search for a Software Design Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all facets of the SW design and development process, to include benchmarking of
competitive products as applicable.
- Ensures manufacturability and optimization of product designs through product design reviews, design for manufacturability reviews, and post-mortems (things gone wrong / lessons learned).
- Responsible for all aspects of software engineering lifecycle requirements analysis; high level design, low level design, coding, unit level tests, integration and integration tests, requirements level testing, and clear documentation.
- Provides design, implementation, documentation, debugging and manufacturing support of firmware for company
products and the development of software tools used to develop products.
- Applies current professional, regulatory and company practices and procedures to develop new products and
maintain existing products observing industry and proprietary standards.
- Participates in software design reviews.
- Supports customer service as necessary.
- Prepares progress reports as required by the projects.
- Understands the role of current assignments in the overall life-cycle and structure of product software
- Creates open communication channels with the customer engineering.
- Directs the activities of other designers involved in SW development or testing.
- Develops a design and/or product validation test program to ensure robustness of design.
- Verifies completeness and accuracy of product documentation.
- Provides and/or supports ongoing value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) efforts on existing programs to control cost and promote cost savings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent required. Masters preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years Software Design Engineering experience required.
- ABET accreditation preferred.
- Experience in embedded, real-time modular software development using C language and embedded automotive applications.
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States of America for any employer without restrictions or expirations.
