Job Description:
Nexteer is looking for an individual who has experience in lean manufacturing to lead the US Cost Improvement Programs. In this position, the candidate will work with suppliers to reduce cost on the Bill of Material through VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering) and Lean Manufacturing Workshops. The ideal candidate will have experience in lean manufacturing and principles as well as manufacturing operations with a technical background. As we have suppliers throughout the US and overseas, there is opportunity for significant travel.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with the regional commercial managers, buyers and engineering the development of the supplier priority list to perform workshops.
- Perform VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering) and Lean Manufacturing workshops.
- Perform follow up reviews with the cross functional team and the suppliers all the way through Change Review Board (CRB) approval to ensure all the workshop ideas are disposition and properly communicated to the stakeholders (Suppliers included).
- Support/Lead regional activities related to insourcing/outsourcing (including make vs. buy analysis) projects.
- Support the regional GSM (Global Supply Management) commercial team in major resourcing activities.
- Ensure all the ideas approved through Nexteer Change Review Board are communicated to the Advance Purchasing team to incorporate them into new program pursuits
- Support engineering in the launch of the cost improvement ideas after CRB approval.
- Chair monthly management reviews with a cross functional team to review progress and status of workshops and ideas disposition.
- Ability to travel 50% or more of the time.
- Participate in core and non-core training to increase personal and professional development.
- Participate and support all GSM regional driven activities
- Develop, in collaboration with Nexteer engineering, one design best practices manual per year for a specific commodity to come up with more cost efficient designs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
dEGREE: Bachelor degree, MBA or similar in operations prefered.
mAJOR: Manufacturing, program management, Engineering, Operations.
• 5 or more years of Costing, Operations (Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing), or Program Management.
• Excellent at Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
