Our goal is to provide the community with the most authentic and tasty baked goods that bring back the memory of being in grandma’s kitchen or back in Scandinavia! We are not a run of the mill bakery and will produce only authentic old world Scandinavian baked goods..

We are searching for full and part-time customer service and food preparation workers who strive to provide excellent customer service. This job will shift between food preparation where you will make high quality sandwiches, salads and soups; work the cash register and make coffee. You will also clean workstations and equipment, and perform other duties to ensure that customer needs are satisfied and the bakery is well-stocked and operating smoothly.
Common duties include slicing and dicing fruits, vegetables, and meat; making salads, sandwiches, and other cold food items; keeping display cases stocked and clean; and keeping the coffee flowing.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the highest standards of customer welcome and care when assisting customers at the counter and delivering orders to tables. Giving advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to customers to ensure a positive experience and repeat business.
- Operating the cash register and giving change.
- Filling display cases.
- Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service when needed.
- Assisting with restacking pantry and food service deliveries.
- Taking client information and ensuring that special orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Follow all health code regulations and complete Daily Cleaning Checklist.
- Preparing and serving food, making coffee and tea and collecting money.
- Ensuring the café is fully stocked and can meet the menu at all times, notifying the Owner or Manager of any shortage.
- Clean the café areas, inside and outside and ensure they are safe and hygienic at all times.
- Check that all café facilities, equipment or furnishings are in good order and to report any damage.
- Follow the normal operating plan, ensuring correct opening and closing times and setting up and clearing down as required.
- Assist with preparing food for bookings, ensuring these are ready on time.
- Monitor expenditure, stock, wastage and use-by dates.
- Ensuring the completion of daily financial paperwork and cash handling and that all expenditure is covered by an invoice or receipt.
- Respond promptly and professionally to any customer feedback, comments, or complaints.
- Be friendly and welcome anyone who enters the building when you are on shift and when the front desk is not manned.
- Be familiar and up-to-date with all policy and procedures, in particular our safeguarding policies.
- Uphold the highest standards of health and safety, cleanliness and professionalism and use your own initiative to respond quickly to issues or challenges that may arise when you are on duty.
- Act as a role model for the other employees, inspiring them to engage in the services and understand and appreciate the practicalities of running a café.
- Any other duties as would be expected of a café worker.
Other Requirements:
- Strong communication, time, resource management, and planning skills.
- Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create amazing baked goods.
- Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend, and holiday availability.
- Ability to work in a hot, hectic environment for extended periods; stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances; and lift heavy bags of flour and other items up to 50 lbs.
- All employees are expected to follow our General Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Important GMP's include, but are not limited to: no jewelry or piercings (must be completely removed), the proper wearing of issued hair net / beard net and gloves, during food handling & production, no texting or checking cell phones during production.
