POSITION SUMMARY
This position is for a full-time Project Engineer within the Water Resources department in Spicer Group’s Dundee and/or St. Johns locations.

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB
- Conceptualizes the initial design approach for major phases of large projects or has overall responsibility for the engineering work on projects of limited scope
- Prepares construction drawings, high level engineering calculations, and technical specifications
- Coordinates and communicates with team members, clients, contractors, outside consultants, and utility companies
- May serve as a liaison between clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design team members
- Provides project specific technical information to the design staff and Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications and construction drawings
- Prepares plans for submittal to various agencies, design and quantities, construction documents, and all supporting documentation
- Coordinates with other engineers, technicians, and administrative assistants during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and code requirements, including applicable state and federal codes
- Makes recommendations for additions, deletions, or substitutions when modifications are necessary
- Makes periodic visits to construction sites as appropriate to review conditions
- Researches code requirements and design procedures manuals
- Prepares correspondence, technical specifications, and reports
- Prepares cost estimates, periodic reports covering construction activities, pay estimates, and data necessary to document acceptability of materials and quantities for final payment
- Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
- May be assigned as supervisor to technicians, designers, administrative, or entry level engineering staff
